Referral rewards cost money, but referred customers can be worth a lot. Enter your referrals, reward cost, and lifetime value to see the net — then model reward levels with the full tool.
Reward cost vs. referred-customer value — and the net.
🔒 Secure checkout via Stripe · Excel & Google Sheets · instant delivery.
Compare the value referred customers bring against the cost of the rewards you pay. Multiply the number of referred customers by their lifetime value to get the value created, subtract the total reward cost, and you have the net; dividing net by cost gives the ROI multiple. Referred customers often have higher retention and lifetime value than other channels, which is part of what can make referral programs efficient — but only if the reward cost stays well below the value they bring.
As much as keeps the program comfortably profitable — the reward per referral should be a fraction of the lifetime value a referred customer brings, leaving room for margin. Because referred customers often stick around longer, you can sometimes afford a more generous reward than for cold acquisition. The calculator lets you test reward levels against lifetime value so you find a reward attractive enough to drive referrals while still paying off.
A ready-to-use spreadsheet (Excel & Google Sheets): net value and ROI of a referral program from reward cost and referred-customer lifetime value, with reward-level scenarios — delivered instantly after checkout. AI-assisted, human-built; not financial advice.
